Loans for Restaurant & Cafe Owners
Every food business needs an FSSAI credential, and which one you need changed materially on 1 April 2026. The Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Amendment Regulations, notified in the gazette on 10 March 2026, raised the Basic Registration ceiling from ₹12 lakh to ₹1.5 crore of annual turnover. State Licence now applies from ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore, and Central Licence above ₹50 crore. A large number of small restaurants and cloud kitchens that previously needed a State Licence now fall under Basic Registration - and many pages online still publish the old ₹12 lakh figure. For lending this matters because the FSSAI credential, the trade licence and GST registration are what a lender checks before it looks at your turnover at all.

Why Restaurant & Cafe Owners Get Better Rates
Lower Compliance Tier Since April 2026
The Basic Registration ceiling rose from ₹12 lakh to ₹1.5 crore of annual turnover, so many small eateries and cloud kitchens now need only a Basic Registration.
Settlement Statements Count as Income
Aggregator and POS settlement records are usable evidence of receipts alongside GST returns, which helps outlets whose sales are largely digital.
Equipment Finance Separate From Working Capital
Kitchen equipment, refrigeration and fit-out can be funded as asset finance rather than consuming the working capital limit you need for stock.
MSME Route for Registered Units
A food business with Udyam registration can be assessed on the MSME track, which is a different set of terms from unsecured business lending.

Basic Registration now covers turnover up to ₹1.5 crore, State Licence applies from ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore, and Central Licence above ₹50 crore.
